"The coach/team gift bag was unique. I've never seen that at a tournament before."

2018 Tournament Highlights

The 2018 Blaine Girls Invitational took place on Saturday and Sunday, February 17th & 18th. The games were played at Oak View Middle School, Northdale Middle School, and Blaine High School. Eighty-eight teams participated and well over 2,500 people attended the two-day tournament.

We implemented a lot of new things in 2018. For starters we wanted to do something fun that every player would have a chance to participate in. We decided to recognize one player after each game for their sportsmanship. The girls that got the nod thought it was cool and the parents appreciated their players being recognized. It was fun for us to do and we'll definitely be bringing it back in 2019!

We also really wanted to up our game in 2018 for the Championship games. We had all Championship games in 4-8 brackets on center court at Blaine High School with announcers. It was a big thrill for these teams to play on the "big stage." We also live-streamed the Championship games and awarded the Champions with cool street signs and quality t-shirts. The signs were a huge hit with the girls. We'll be bringing all of this back in 2019!

Wayzata had a strong showing as they were Champions in 3rd Grade, 5B, 5C, and 8B brackets. Prior Lake were no slackers either with Championship finishes in 6A, 7A, and 8C. Stillwater were Champions in 7C and 8A. Finally, Centennial were Champions in 4th Grade, Rochester in 6B, and Cottage Grove in 7B.

Our own Blaine girls finished 2nd in 6A, 6C, and 8A, 3rd in 7B, and were Consolation Champs in 3rd grade! Way to go Bengals!
