Girls In-House (Grades 2 - 8)

Mandatory Parent Meeting

In House Parents Night is will be held October 4, 2022 at 7pm at BHS Auditorium.

2022 Girls In-House Program Information

Our in-house program is part of the Twin Cities Youth Basketball League.

Games are hosted by the communities in the league but most of our games are played at Blaine, Anoka, and Spring Lake Park schools.

Teams will have 1-2 practices a week and two games on Saturday or Sunday.  Practices start the week of October 17th and games will start on October 29th. There will be no games November 26/27 (Thanksgiving)

There are a total of 12 games plus the end-of-year tournament on December 17/18th (no tournament for 2nd grade).

We will be limiting buddy requests this season to ensure teams are as even and competitive as possible. Buddy requests are limited to 1-2 players per request.

PARENT MEETING:

We will be hosting a Parent Meeting for all In-House players on October 4th.  This is a chance to learn more about our program, meet your coach and teammates, and ask any questions you may have.  Specific details (date, time, location, etc.) will be communicated in a subsequent email.

In-House vs. Traveling

A question we get asked frequently is what are the differences between our in-house program and our traveling program. Here are the key differences between these programs.

  • In-house is less expensive
  • In-house has a much shorter season (2 month season versus 5 month season in traveling)
  • In-house is less competitive
  • In-house is great for a beginner player or one playing other sports during the winter
  • In-house is a great place to "dip your toes in the water" to see if the player likes it before committing to traveling
  • In-house requires less driving and commuting as games are primarily played in Blaine, Coon Rapids, or Anoka; traveling games can be played throughout the Twin Cities metro area

Travel Lite

If your daughter enjoyed the in-house season and wants to keep playing, consider our travel lite program! This program is for in-house players that want to extend their basketball season and get a feel for the traveling experience. Here are the highlights of the program:

  • Starts at the end of the in-house season (mid-December) and goes until the Blaine tournament (mid-February).
  • There are typically 2-3 teams in 3rd and 4th grades
  • Coaches pick a couple of interested players from each in-house team to form travel lite teams.
  • Two practices per week
  • Teams play in 2-3 tournaments - the Blaine tournament being one of them.
  • A volunteer check is required but NOT CASHED. Once the volunteer hours are provided (see below) we return your check.
  • Parents are required to volunteer 6 hours during our home tournament in February.
