Player Welcome

By Coach Bryan, 09/25/16, 9:45AM CDT

Hello All!
Hard to believe, we are a couple weeks into football and I am already sending out a Basketball e-mail.
For those who don't know me, I am Bryan Erickson and I was selected to be the 8B traveling basketball coach.
First, congratulations to all the young men for the hard work you put in during tryouts and for being selected to 8B. Be proud of yourselves, take a deep breath, relax from the stress of tryouts and enjoy what you have accomplished.
Now, get ready to get to work!
B team has a whole new look this year with only three returning players from last year and seven new faces, and I am excited about the opportunity that presents us!
There are only four things I am going to ask from each of you this season:
  1. Be on time! Blaine has very limited gym space and we need to make use of every second we get! I understand you don't drive, but I expect you know how to tell time, and if you are anything like my son, you know how to get your parents attention. So we are clear, ON TIME means ready to step on the court and get going at the designated practice time… if it takes you an hour to tie your shoes……get to the gym an hour early!
  2. Be ready to give your best effort….every practice and every game! Understand, that everyone has bad days and sometimes your “best” might not be as good as other days….That's OK! Your effort is between you and you….only you will know if you gave your best! Expect your best effort from yourself, and expect your teammates to give their best effort as well.
  3. Be Coachable….Listen and do your best to apply what you have heard, if you don't understand ask a question….This will not only help you in basketball, but even more later in life.
  4. Bring a great attitude with you! Be supportive of your teammates, lift them up when they have a bad day, get excited for them when they have success!
That's it….if we can all commit to doing those four things we will have a fun season!
I look forward to seeing you all on the court when practices get started!
